A very warm welcome to Nnorberg & Co. on Ontario St, that has been very busy since opening late this summer! You may be familiar with owners Danielle O’Connor and husband Niels Kouwenberg who also own Danielle O’Connor Jewellery just a few shops down the road.
The “right place at the right time” and the decision was made to expand on their passion for interior design. Nnorberg & Co. is a curated mix of antiques, vintage pieces, home décor and garden. There are beautiful old silver pieces, artwork, furniture, serving pieces, pottery and one-of-a-kind finds, mixed with carefully selected new items. “We wanted the store to feel collected rather than decorated,” says Danielle, “the way a home develops over time.”
And when you visit the shop you will agree they have accomplished this with old and imperfect mixed beautifully with new and refined. You won’t leave empty-handed!
A lifelong love of architecture, interiors, antiques and renovating has been poured into this new business. Together Danielle and Niels have renovated and restored a lot of homes over the years, including their own century home in Stratford. Restoring their family home really strengthened their appreciation for original architecture, craftsmanship and the importance of preserving what makes an older home special. Ultimately the renovation earned them the James Anderson Award for residential restoration, for which they are very honoured!
And if you’re curious about the name… Nnorberg is a combination of the two family names – O’Connor and Kouwenberg. Danielle loves that the four last letters of each together have created a name that feels established and maybe even “a little European,” while still being completely personal to their family.
