Welcome to Sonya Scheuermann-Smith, who has opened her business – Luxe Sugar Cove – inside of The Salt Cabin.
Sonya’s beautifully adorned room awaits for women looking for pain-free hair removal. Learning under the tutelage of Shelby Marchand, formerly of Sunshine & Bliss, and also schooling in London, Sonya offers a calm space and excellent service. The combination of sugar, lemon juice and water brought to room temperature creates a sticky paste that is applied to the hair in the opposite direction that it is growing. Then in quick, short, flicking motions, the sugar paste is removed, pulling hair in the direction it grows.
This action reduces the chance of the hair breaking as it’s pulled and is said to be gentler than traditional waxing. Sonya offers sugaring on ‘parts’ from the neck down.
Sonya is a busy mom of three boys, ages 14, 12 and 7. Juggling her family, a side gig doing the marketing for Lavender & Lemon Cleaning Co, and regular workouts at Fifth Round (tho’ this summer taking a wee break!), it’s impressive she has the energy to start her own business!
