Tucked in behind Bowl Bar, Andrea Achilles has opened her own salon – Kindred Roots – holistic hair & soul sanctuary. This cool cozy space is more than just hair, but also community and family on a kindred level.
Andrea has been a master of her trade for 18 years, 16 of which were most recently at Expressions Hair Salon. Most important to Andrea is the organic products she uses – Innersense was created for people, their hair and the planet. The 40-shade colour line, shampoos and conditioners are certified at the highest standards of social and environmental responsibility. The products are safe and effective, not only leaving out harmful and toxic ingredients to prioritize health, but also include ingredients that are nourishing, supportive, and a benefit to both you and your hair. Andrea also loves the shine they leave on her client’s hair!
Andrea cites your every day “hair ceremony” as making a ritual of self connection. In the new year her salon will offer “scalp facials.” What on earth is a scalp facial you ask? It’s exactly what you think it is! A treatment that has all the elements of a facial, but for your scalp. For the most part, this will involve a consultation, cleanse, massage and treatment. “Everything happens to your hair,” Andrea says and she’s excited to book clients in soon to have this wonderful self-care experience.
To her space, Andrea also welcomes hairdresser Pauline Koert and Ange Near, a holistic wellness practitioner who offers reiki, mental wellness mentorship, and holistic facials under the business name of WildRebirth Wellness.
