Local business woman, Lisa Hyde, has realized a dream she has had for a while!
With the retail space opening recently in a building owned by the Hydes, Lisa has introduced Stratford to the coolest concept in sustainable shopping under the name of Closet Collective. This is a concept Lisa discovered while traveling some time ago and she had always kept it tucked in the back of her brain.
Exactly as the name suggests, the shop houses closets – 30 of them – each rented and stocked by folks looking to sell gently used items from their own closets. Sellers follow 4 easy steps to be a part of the collective – (1) rent your space, (2) curate and price your items, (3) market and sell your closet, (4) get paid! Rental periods can be as short as a week but typically are booked for a month.
Saturdays from 9am to 11am are “move in days” and are an event in themselves with this like-minded community having a blast while setting up their spaces! (Likely some selling/buying happening before items are even up in the closet!)
There is space in each closet for 50 items – beit clothing, shoes, accessories and even jewelry. Closet Collective provides the hangers, tags and display supports such as steamers while you bring the “style and personality” to your closet. Women’s, men’s and children’s clothes are all welcome.
Throughout your rental, you’re encouraged to promote your collection via socials and inviting friends, family, and followers to shop your space.
The CC team is there to manage the rest: handling every transaction, maintaining your display, and keeping your items beautifully showcased. At the end of the rental period, you pick up unsold items and … collect your earnings! Sellers keep 65% of their total sales in cash or 70% in store credit.

Melissa Orr who works for Orr Insurance is also a BIA Board member and runs her own digital marketing company called MNG Marketing. Melissa helped to bring Lisa’s vision to life and continues now to contribute to Closet Collective’s socials. Peyton Marsden is full time at the shop and is the perfect fit! Peyton has a 4 year degree in photography from Sheridan College, worked at Gallery Stratford curating exhibits, and currently has an online curated vintage shop – all super handy skills for her new role! Lisa also welcomes Jacqui Kalbfleisch to the team.

Also there are some fun events that are being planned in the gorgeous space … Savasana & Shop and Paint Nights. Watch your socials! Closet Collective is open Tuesday to Saturday 11am to 5pm.
