Welcome to The Collaborative Psychotherapy Counselling & Consulting, whose offices opened last month by the formidable trio Rebecca Cuthbert, Karen Slater and Maggie Blake. Their paths crossing organically over these past years, through sports, husbands and kids, they jumped at the chance to work together. Having first established their practices just this past December on an upper floor of 206 Ontario St, in August they took over a much larger space. So far there is a roster of nine therapists who offer the complete gamut of mental wellness services.
Each of the offices are warm, bright and inviting, the perfect environment for meaningful connection.
Maggie is a trauma-informed consultant and a seasoned counsellor whose practice focuses on kids and teens. She has her Masters in Child and Youth Counselling, does a lot of advocacy in this age group and as a side gig works with the child actors at the Stratford Festival. A child actor herself, Maggie is very at home working with this demographic. Her approach is warm and welcoming, placing utmost importance on providing a safe and comfortable space for kids and youth navigating life’s complexities.
Karen is a Registered Psychotherapist (qualifying) who works with adults – 22+ – experiencing grief, trauma, life transitions, shame, and feelings of isolation, to name a few. Karen has found that she has a particular interest in working with men across all economic, social and racial backgrounds. She deals a lot with complex trauma and works towards understanding the root cause of suffering.
Rebecca is a Registered Psychotherapist with a Masters of Education. She has more than 14 years of clinical experience that she draws on when meeting with her clients, helping them to make sense of their inner worlds as they navigate relationships with themselves, others and their environments. Rebecca works from the latest knowledge in neuroscience when dealing with topics of trauma, attachment, anxiety, depression, sense of self-worth and intense emotions.
The Collaborative (Psychotherapy) is working towards offering monthly workshops and group therapy sessions. They are already out in the community having led sessions for schools on How to Keep Kids Safe Online. Community is very important to these founders who are also busy moms to young children! All are invited to the official Grand Opening of The Collaborative on Monday, October 21st from 7-9pm.
