We’re celebrating EARTH MONTH Downtown

Earth Day is an annual event on April 22 to demonstrate support for environmental protection. We’re observing (and honouring) this day by acknowledging it all month long throughout our downtown core. Follow us as we highlight businesses doing their extra bit to keep our earth healthy. And we’re promoting special events on Earth Day and suggesting ways to celebrate it.

What’s happening downtown:

  • Climate Momentum: Earth Day Party in Market Square
  • Downtown Stratford BIA: Member Clean Sweep and dress-up – for prizes
  • Illume Wellness Spa: Public Garbage Cleanup 3-5pm this Saturday (April 22nd) to honour Earth Day. Everyone who attends receives a complimentary facial kit. (Includes Ontario/York Street area and over by river.) They’ll supply bags. **PLUS Earth Day specials online, and more about recycle program 
  • La Osa Jewellery: Mending Circle April 26th
  • Trashion Week: Two fashion shows organized by members La Osa Jewellery and The Green Hair Spa – with after-party at Pazzo Pizzeria MORE HERE
  • revel: Offering coffee (with huge discount if you bring-your-own-mug) at Climate Momentum event AND employee Michelle entering Trashion Refashion Show using recycled revel items such as old swag, coffee bags, etc. – with employee Kate modelling
  • The Little Green Grocery: Earth Day Instagram Contest Apr 19-21 (announce winner on Earth Day)
  • JENN & Larry’s + Sutton Group: Teaming up!! Giving away ice cream from noon-3pm on Earth Day for kids that bring a bag of trash picked up in their neighbourhood. PLUS: Take a photo of your picking up trash and post and tag and enter to win a Jenn & Larry’s Gift Card
  • The Livery Yard: Plants & Seed Swap April 29, 2-4pm
  • Daisies & Doilies: Earth Day (April 22) anyone that brings a reusable shopping bag with get a free gift with purchase
  • Apt.6:  implementing many new green initiatives this month (and they’re awesome)
  • Stratford Public Library: April 18 Gardening Tips for Seniors, April 21 Magic of Vermicomposting, April 21/22 Drop n Swap Garden Decor, April 27 Eco-Friendly Home Organizing splibrary.ca/earthday
  • Ande: April 19th hosting a talk about eco-anxiety and art project (already sold out), Re-New Program accepts pre-loved Ande items through repurchase and mends then passes on

Ways to celebrate Earth Day (Week/Month):

  • Honour our pollinators by planting flowers and plants that attract bees, hummingbirds, butterflies.
  • Clean up plastic downtown and throughout the city
  • Swap our harmful cleaning products and household supplies
  • Plant wildflowers and native plants
  • Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
  • Plant a tree
  • Avoid using pesticides and chemicals on your lawn or in the garden
  • Be conscious of the food you buy
  • Conserve water
