Welcome back for the Car-Free Fridays of 2025!
June 6, 13, 20, and 27th from 8:00am to 10:00am, you’ll find us in Market Square under the BIA tent. Arrive by bus, bike, foot, skateboard, or scooter and you’ll earn yourself a free cuppa hot coffee or cold juice and a chance to win a month-long bus pass or $25 in Downtown Dollars! AND if you bring your to-go cup for coffee, you’ll get an extra ballot for the draw!
Each week Constable Darren Fischer will be on site promoting Project 529; he’s happy to register your bike so it’s more easily recovered if stolen. Ross Taylor of Ross’ Bikeworks will be on site June 6th and 20th for mini bike tune-ups and to answer any bike-related questions. Mike Mousely, Manager of the City’s Transit department will join us each Friday, and on June 13th and 27th will bring along the City’s new e-bus for a little “show & tell!” Other special guests throughout the month include Joel Lacourse of Stratford Dog Walkers; Marc Graves and Rhonda Gesinghaus Vaters, long distance cyclists; Sadaf Ghalib, Climate Change Program Manager for the City; and Bill James-Abra, Climate Momentum.
Special thanks to Rhonda Gesinghaus-Vater for sponsoring the coffee on June 13th, under the Urban Barber.
SPECIAL NOTE – This year we are resurrecting the “Friday Friendly” COMMUTER CUP CHALLENGE between BIA Members and the City of Stratford Staff – let’s see which group takes the trophy “home” at the end of June! Be sure to get your colleagues to participate. It will only count if you show up at the tent!!
